Computer Science Or Information Science For Computer Forensics?
what exactly is the difference between computer science engineering and information science engineering and which is more appropriate if one wants to get into the field of computer forensics? my aim is to become a computer forensic investigator
Go with Computer Science. Information Science is generally less technical than computer science. IS is aimed more toward managers and people doing less technical IT work – I know people who have graduated from IS programs without even knowing how to program. Forensics can involve some complex work that requires you to understand low level hardware and software operations. You don’t learn that kind of thing in IS, but you do in CS.
I think information science would be very similar, but would be broader than just computer science. By this i mean that information science might have a bit to do with non computer type information. Computer science will be the same as information but instead of being broader on information you will spend that time more on learning about how computers work etc. I would go for computer science engineering
