How Accurate Is Computer Forensic Analysis?

My old company is mad that I deleted my Outlook e-mails off of my laptop when I returned it. They are asking for my e-mails back. I insist that I do not have or need them. I deleted them and that’s it. If they don’t have things backed up on the server, than it sounds like a problem that is not mine, but theirs. They are saying that they are going to do a forensic analysis of the PC.

  1. It really depends on the person doing the analysis, if they understand the concept of it. Honestly I live in a big city and most of the computer forensic analysists don’t have a clue. College will teach you the book studies of it, but not the true concepts.

it’s as accurate as the analyst himself/herself and the tools the used. There was a time I deleted some files I needed and was able to recover 80%, which took 2 days, it’s was something that I didn’t like doing. It’s long and tedious.
