How Do I Remove This Virus?
so i was downloading some songs from lime wire. i also was on the internet using a proxy site for games. All of a sudden my computer suddenly restarted. As soon as that happened i knew i got a virus. When i logged back onto my profile, my background turned blue.
a legit looking anti-virus software called “System Security” popped up after a few seconds.But me knowing that, its probably a fake that may cause more viruses, stopped it from scanning my computer. When I closed the pop up, on the Desktop in red lettering was this message:

Your computer is infected with spyware!
All you do with computer is stored forever in your Hard disk.
When You Visit Sites, send emails… All Your Actions Are
Logged. And It IS Impossible to Remove Them With Standard

I immediately deleted all the files i downloaded from lime-wire.Also(being the stupid idiot that i am) opened up the Hard drive disk and deleted anything that was modified today, there were three things that i wasn’t able to delete ( a window pop up saying cannot delete, it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again) i thought that this might be the virus but was not sure. Unfortunatelyfor me i have no
anti-virus programs available. Why? Because the Computer crashed
awhile ago and we had to reinstall the Window XP service pack.
I can not go onto the internet nor can i open up other programs fully
(they open bimmediatelyclose)
Am i able to remove the virus, or should i just reinstall windows XP on the computer?

when your turning on your computer start tapping F8 while it’s starting up.
you’ll be given option
choose to start up in safe mode (with networking).
from there, use system restore.
choose a date where your computer was still good.
after that you’ll want to get some antivirus
get Avast Home Edition (FREE) avast.com
it’s the best
after you install avast
after you do you’ll have to restart your computer
it’ll then scan your whole system for viruses. this can take a few hours but you can skip it if you really want to, although I recomend that you don’t!
avast will help prevent you from getting viruses in the future and will help you remove them
If you do get a virus it will alert you and allow you to delete it before any harm is done.

most viruses are very simple and can easily be found and deleted.
first look through every file on your’e computer, and that means going further than just your documents, look for anything suspicious, unfortunately you probably don’t know what looks suspicious, so look for something with a name that is specifically made to be unused by every other file, something like: “new file” or “file” (or if the virus programmer isn’t the brightest bulb in the box: “virus”), and then delete it from the hard drive, which should be a file on the computer starting with z:(bla bla bla)
System Security is a fake spyware remover, which tries to scare you into buying it’s full version by displaying fake threat reports. You should try Spyware Doctor in safe mode. Otherwise you could try removing it manually:http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-system-s…
So basically, you are one of the many people who disregarded every virus warning about using Limewire. You have obviously messed up badly, so about the only thing I could suggest is a format. You could have killed that infection with Malwarebytes with about a 45 minute scan, but you went and did more damage than you know.
Try this first:
Restart the computer
Tap the F8 button repeatedly while it is booting
Choose “Safe mode with networking”
Go here and download this:http://malwarebytes.org/
When you are about to install, change the name of the mbam-setup.exe file to xxxx.exe
then install it, update it, and run a quick scan
That should get it.
If you follow those instructions to the letter, it just may work. If not, format and hope everything goes OK.
There’s also free anti-virus program out like Avast and Avira. I advise you to get one of those immediately after you fix your problem.
