How much do forensics that work in the field make?






I’m going in to high school and we were told to think of somethings we would like to do in our life and this is something I always wanted to do.

  2. It depends on what type of forensics you do.
    There are forensic anthropologists, dentist(odontologists), botanists, nurses, geneticists, engineers as well as the CSI types. For them, it may not be a full time job, it may just be a special consultation.
    To do forensics with the police, there are places like ITT or community colleges that teach about forensics, usually a two year course. Or you can go to the police academy, as in some states, all the forensics work , CSI type, is done only by either state or local policemen. Check on what your state’s requirements for a forensics specialist are.
    There are also independent forensic firms out there, such as the ones who do the DNA testing.
    So there are a lot of ways to get into forensics, and a lot of different types of forensic studies you can do as a specialist. The amount of money depends on your level of training and how you get into it(polic vs private, etc)
