There are four general areas you can get into:
· Medical examiner: Have to be a doctor ( MD) so that's about 8+years college
· Crime laboratory analyst: Usually need a 4 year degree-chemistry or biology is good to major in--so you can get jobs in something other than just forensics.
· Crime scene examiner: Bachelor's degree either in a natural science with emphasis in law enforcement and crime scene processing or a criminal justice degree with emphasis in natural science.
· Forensic engineer: You need an engineering degree-a 4 year bachelor's degree.
Check out this web page to narrow down which field you want to concentrate on: http://www.criminology.fsu.edu/faculty/n…
or the American Academy of Forensic Science:http://www.aafs.org/default.asp?section_…
Good luck!
