The best route being accepted world-wide, is an undergrad degree in forensic science, and then on to med school, followed by 4 to 5 years as a resident in pathology. Then you end up on the bottom at a great lab under the direction of the Chief pathologist.
John Jay College of Criminal Justice is my favorite, found in NYC. But there are others like University of New Haven, located in West Haven, Conn. (private and expensive). They have fire science program too.
