What Do I Need To Become A Forensic Scientist?
Im looking into a career and foensics really interests me but i cant find all the information i want from the internet. Like what are the best schools? and what prerequisites would i require? as well i wanted to know what a salary for a forensic scientist looks like on average? and if you specialize is it better? Im really intersted in this field so itd be great to et some information. Thnxs =)

In the UK you need a minimum of Bsc degree in either Biology, Chemistry or physics. Preferably two degrees combined together which could include medicine or criminology. To advance in this field you also need to take a masters in forensic science.
In the UK (i have converted into US$) you would expect to be paid anywhere from $40-100,000 annually. This dependent upon your specialty.
Forensic scientist jobs are not nearly as easy to come by as an episode of CSI. Many of those technologies don’t exist. It is also a very grusome field, dead bodies that are decomposing or have been brutally beaten…if you’re really ready for it then more power to you!! I saw a picture of a severed head and I realized the homicide squad is not for me! WIth that said, usually the homicide squad takes care of that. The officer that came into my lecture began working on the beat as a patrol officer and as positions became available she moved up. She had a degree in Criminology. Either that credential or maybe a science (biology) degree would be beneficial.

I do not know what the really best schools are, but I will say that a degree in chemistry/biology is probably the best way to go. The average salary for a forensic scientist. They typically start at around $20 per hour..Have a website for more info..will tell you EVERYTHING about the field…
