Which Is Better, Core 2 Duo 2.8 Or Core 2 Quad 2.0 In Terms Of Computer Forensics, Not Gaming.?

I am looking to get a new laptop and it must last a few years, im am going to school for computer forensics and i want to make my decision based on what would be better for my future classes, not my gaming.

  1. The quad. Quads are pretty much crap for gaming, but work well with any other processor intense applications.
However, you’re not going to be needing *too* much for what you’ll be doing. All the programs we ran in my class ran on a single core machine clocking in at 2.1 fairly nicely.

  2. Actually you should get the Core 2 Duo because of 2 reasons
    1.) It’s cheaper
2.) It has a faster clock speed. This will help run your everyday school applications faster
Most applications (even complex games) don’t even utilize 2 cores so you won’t be using all of your quad core processor. If you are only using 1 core of your quad core processor, it will be slower than using 1 core of your duo processor.
They will becoming out with faster quad core processors soon so your 2.0Ghz quad core will become quickly outdated. Better to have less cores at the current speed than more cores that can’t do much

  3. If you are not upgrading it for 2-3 years and you wont be playin games i think you should go for Quad-core.You can also go with core 2 duo but i think it will be outdated in2-3 years.so go with quad-core. it will last longer

  4. in theory the Quad core…because it has 8.0ghz of processing power vs the Dual Core has 5.6 Ghz, but the Quads have proven themselves to suck….Get the Dual core, it’s less expensive…and you won’t notice a difference

  5. The Core 2 Duo will give u faster speeds, but it will limate u to a couple of processes
so you have to chooses, if you want to open applications faster, or if you want to be able to use a lot of applications

Core 2 Quad if it is purely computational work, 4 cores at 2.0GHz can take more load then 2 @ 2.8GHz, faster computing is not compensation for the AMOUNT you can computer.

  7. Go for the quad because more apps are coming out that are able to use all 4 threads.

  8. core 2 Quad is way better than Core 2 Duo
